StP. Hötzendorf

StP. Hötzendorf, a simple indirect battery with an inland location, directed its fire across the beaches at Westkapelle. The battery comprised emplacements for four cannon and two type 611 artillery bunkers. These bunkers featured a gun room, ammunition magazines and a crew room. The battery was located very close to the breach in the Westkapelle sea wall caused by Allied bombardment in October 1944. Not long afterwards, the battery became submerged. Hötzendorf’s two bunkers are located on either side of the Pauluswegeling.
