Stüzpunkt Kolberg

The town of Koudekerke was set up as a strong point within the Land front and was named Stützpunkt Kolberg. Bomb-proof bunkers were built to shelter troops, store water, prepare meals and care for the injured. In contrast to the fortifications on higher ground, strong point Kolberg never had to be actively defended as all of the island of Walcheren was inundated in 1944.
